a little about me

I’m Samantha Jones, an editor, writer, and Division I track athlete-turned-marathoner. Born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, I grew up reading my mom’s copies of Better Homes & Gardens and Good Housekeeping magazines, which instilled in me a deep-rooted love for creative writing and design. In college, attended Drake University and earned a bachelor’s degree in magazine media and news journalism with a minor in art and design. As fate would have it, I eventually went on to work for both of the magazines I grew up reading: Better Homes and Gardens in 2021, and Good Housekeeping in my current role, which began in 2023. As an editor at Hearst Magazines in New York City, I can often be found reporting on the latest fashion trends, searching for the best TikTok-approved beauty dupes, or obsessing over the latest running shoe tech.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked for a variety of titles including ELLE, Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, Women’s Health, Better Homes & Gardens, House Beautiful, and more. I’ve pitched, written, and edited commerce content that runs the gamut from quick-hit news pieces to in-depth product reviews, created and executed content strategies for major shopping events, managed young writers and many networks of freelancers, and collaborated across every stage of content creation.
